Oral Health and the Connection to Our Systemic Health
Research has identified a link between oral health and systemic health. Poor oral health, at any age, can have a negative impact on the severity of chronic conditions such as, heart disease, diabetes, respiratory diseases, dementia and, Alzheimer disease.
Importance of Oral Health Care for Seniors
Canadians are living longer with better quality of life; therefore, many people are keeping their teeth longer and are interested in acquiring preventative dental care into their senior years.
In many cases, seniors can be at a greater risk for considerably higher rates of systemic and oral diseases, which can have additional negative effects on diet and nutrition leading to a decrease in overall health.
At CWDHC, we understand the importance of caring for seniors and their oral health care needs. We are focused on taking the necessary time and approach in helping our senior clients and their families/care givers, achieve adequate oral health while contributing to a higher quality of life.
At Carolyn Weiss Dental Hygiene Clinic we are committed to meeting the accessibility needs of all of our clients in order to ensure they receive regular dental cleanings to ensure proper oral hygiene care. To facilitate this we offer Home Service Teeth Cleaning in which our hygienist will come to our patients' homes to perform oral care and cleanings. This service is particularly popular with our senior patients.
